my mother used to say
there, my honey those streaks of ray,
they grant your wish, those fairies that fly
so my little sweetheart, please don’t cry.
my eyes turned to the night
and felt the fairies’ might.
so I wished for a candy,
soon my mother surprised me
with sweets shaped like bears.
as she pulled me closer to her hair,
smelling like lavender,
left me falling asleep with lots to wonder.
ear piercing screams and mirrors cracking,
woke me from my dreaming.
my parents played tag and my mother’s running
but they don’t seem to be smiling.
i waited and shrieked
since they didn’t invite me,
running to
cupped your teared-stained face
and stole the broken pieces
of your only heart.
so none can steal them
to trample all over it.
embrace your wrecked soul
just before i leave.
hide your eyes from illusions,
shut your ears from deceptions.

i can express what i want to say.
i know we've been quarreling
its not like i enjoy arguing

was because you're always in my eyes

but i'll tell you i'm fine.
every day i'll run away
to find some means of escape.
i know it's not right
but i couldn't find time
to solve all those rhymes.

but now it's fine,
to tell you I'm alright
because now i see, you've always been
by my side
you know it's not easy for me to trust,
when all the love around me rust.

MagicalJoey's Anthology Contest II
Why hello there you lovely person. Yes, you! No, not the madly waving person behind you...just you. You have arrived at a very nice place. While we have no unicorns, candy or coffee, we do have a contest! That's right, you've arrived at:
While the idea isn't entirely an original one, last year I decided that I wanted to host a poetry contest that promotes the writing of poetry. And what better way to do so than by holding an Anthology Contest - I am an aspiring poet who aims to publish an anthology one day, and I am sure that there are many more like me - where you have to write poetry that is specific, packs an impact and is anthology 'wort

we didn't mix because we're
polar opposites
and i said opposites attract like magnets and he
called my bluff,
told me :
not when the opposites
destroy each other
(that you'd never see fire dancing with water, but he's just bitter because he never liked to dance anyway)
he said i burned bright and radiated warmth and reflected in eyes
like stars and
started in hearts
and that
all he ever did was sweep things away and
freeze
and that
he'd put me out like a light
and i thought about how
i didn't

but i told him
it was a lie

Sometimes you write of darkness
that spills from your fingertips,
As naturally as the prints
marring your hands
As if pain has become more recognizable to you
than your own fingerprints.
You say that you're unlovable.
You say that you're a disappointment.
and god knows the things you tell yourself
that no one ever hears.
And though we are just strangers,
I want to tell you that
You're Wrong.
You may call yourself Destruction,
but there's nothing wrong with rainbowed gasoline.
Without it, those scraps of metal would never find freedom on the concrete.
And truck stops
are a driver's second home.

Dirty brown, let my earth-clod hands take yours,
Grasp me tightly, like winding tendrils on a tree.
Hold on, as I pull you from the dark muddy soil,
Wind your scarred arms with mine, lean on me.
Climb up and out, grab my firmly rooted feet.
Scramble skywards, into my arms open wide.
Shake yourself free of the violent dark dirt.
Don’t sit in your grave before you’ve died.
On the first day I know I saw him, I woke up early in the morning for work. I got out of my bed and folded the sheets at the edge. It is more important than most people realize to make your bed every day. Then, the first task of the day is done. The day is started with accomplishment from real work, even if it is only a small effort. It gives you the right mindset of organization and productivity.
Next, I showered. I used the best soaps and shampoo I can get. Personal presentation is always important. Even if it seems no one notices, your cleanliness will affect how people treat you, and can be the first obstacle to success.
